How do you find a killer who has destroyed all the evidence?Detective Erika Foster is on a late-night walk near her new house in Blackheath when she stumbles upon the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster。Erika is assigned to the case and discovers that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, staking out his victims in their halls of residence before breaking in at the dead of night。When Erika How do you find a killer who has destroyed all the evidence?Detective Erika Foster is on a late-night walk near her new house in Blackheath when she stumbles upon the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster。Erika is assigned to the case and discovers that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, staking out his victims in their halls of residence before breaking in at the dead of night。When Erika discovers that Vicky’s notes and sound recordings were stolen from her flat at the time of her murder, it leads her to believe that Vicky was close to unmasking the attacker, and she was killed to guarantee her silence。The case takes on a disturbing twist when the body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is discovered in the same building, and this makes Erika question everything she thought she knew about Vicky。 With very little evidence, the clock is ticking to find the killer before he strikes again。This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start。Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable。Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story。Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down。Can't wait to read more of these。Recommend reading。I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher。 This is my own honest voluntary 。。。more

All of my reviews can be found at https://damppebbles。com/Erika Foster is back, baby! So I feel Erika and I have some history。 And since that first introduction, I have read and thoroughly enjoyed every single new title。 So imagine my excitement when I heard the seventh book was set to be published 。 I could not WAIT to get my mitts on a copy of Fatal Witness!DCI Erika Foster stumbles upon a grisly crime scene in her new neighbourhood, making her question her decision to move to Blackheath。 The victim is true crime podcaster Vicky Clarke, whose body was discovered by her sister, Tess, only seconds before Erika's arrival。 Erika and her team are assigned the case, digging into Vicky's life in an attempt to discover who wanted her dead。 But the more they search, the more confusing the case becomes。 There's no motive, no evidence, and impossible as it seems, there are no records of what Vicky was working on。 Could the murder be linked to one of her podcasts? Was Vicky getting close to revealing the identity of a serial sexual predator? And can Erika catch the killer before they strike again。。。?The DCI Erika Foster series is by far one of my favourite police procedural series and I am so glad that the author has decided to write a seventh instalment。 I'm keeping everything crossed that this is only the beginning and there are many more adventures to come for my favourite Slovakian DCI。 I adore Erika。 She's a little bit of a b!tch (she'd be the first to admit that herself - in fact, I think she does in Fatal Witness!), she's a little bit bossy, she's a whole lot of kick-ass but oh my gosh, she gets the job done。 To be reunited with her and the team felt like meeting up with old friends I haven't seen in a while and I loved every single second。 Erika is a strong, independent, determined woman but I felt the author added a level of vulnerability to her character in this book that we perhaps haven't seen before。 Still coming to terms with the events of the previous book, still grief stricken by the sudden and violent death of her husband before her transfer to London and having recently moved house, it's clear to the reader that Erika Foster is a lonely woman。 I really felt for her。 That vulnerability made me like her even more (if that's possible!)。 And fingers crossed, the future may be a smidge brighter。 Possibly。 Maybe。 Who knows。。。?The plot is compelling and draws the reader into the story from the prologue。 There are, as I've come to expect from a Robert Bryndza novel, several fantastically placed and beautifully penned twists and turns along the way which keep the reader on their toes。 I really enjoyed how flummoxed the team were at points in the story。 With very few leads, a small number of possible culprits but no evidence to confirm their suspicions, they quickly run out of plausible, workable options。 I was, of course, trying my darnedest to work out whodunit。 (I'm a crime fiction fan, I'm sure we all do it!) However, as I approached the end of the book I could not for the life of me work out the who nor the why!Would I recommend this book? I would, yes。 If you're a fan of well-written, cleverly plotted police procedurals then you need Fatal Witness, along with the first six books in the series, in your life。 The entire series is an absolute 'must read' for crime fiction fans。 All in all, a compelling, incredibly readable addition to a standout series which I hope continues for many more books to come。 I'm still a little bit in love with Erika and I can't see that changing any time soon。 Great plot, fantastic characters, intensely atmospheric and impossible to put down。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

Fatal Witness was my first encounter with Robert Bryndza and his lead character, Erika。 Although this book is the eighth in this crime series, I did not feel in any way disadvantaged by not reading the previous instalments。 Bryndza afforded me enough glimpses into Erika's background and some of her tragic past experiences to form a clear picture of who she was, what made her tick and how she left。 I really understood and liked her。 Her work taking precedence over such trivial matters as buying a Fatal Witness was my first encounter with Robert Bryndza and his lead character, Erika。 Although this book is the eighth in this crime series, I did not feel in any way disadvantaged by not reading the previous instalments。 Bryndza afforded me enough glimpses into Erika's background and some of her tragic past experiences to form a clear picture of who she was, what made her tick and how she left。 I really understood and liked her。 Her work taking precedence over such trivial matters as buying a bed for her new house and having to sleep on the floor with a stray cat made perfect sense in the context of her deliciously fleshed out personality。 Bryndza hit the bull's eye with the pace and tension of this story。 There were twists galore with the case of mistaken identity of the victim at the start of the book carrying a huge amount of emotional ordeal for the victim's sister。 Each chapter led into the next and I felt riveted to story, unable to find the right place to take a break。 Fatal Witness is sort of a dual crime case: firstly, the victim Vicky was hot on the heels of a serial rapist before she was killed; then Erika stepped in to pursue not only Vicky's murderer but probably also the rapist who had so far eluded justice。I don't think this will be my last book by Robert Bryndza。 A riveting read。 。。。more

Solid addition to the Erika Foster series。 Gives podcast impact a whole new level of danger。 I liked the tiny sea of red herrings Erika, Peterson and Moss have to wade through to find the killer。 Kept me guessing until the end。

oh wow this mystery thriller book is really intense, from the prologue the suspense is off the roof, it might a bit slowing down in the middle but it went back up in the last few chapters, but still it's a captivating, page-turner, edge-of-seat read。 The case for Erika this time is a brutal murder of young woman who's a true-crime podcaster, the gory details on the murder at the prologue really got my heart racing, it's really gruesome and definitely not for a weak heart and I suggest to read th oh wow this mystery thriller book is really intense, from the prologue the suspense is off the roof, it might a bit slowing down in the middle but it went back up in the last few chapters, but still it's a captivating, page-turner, edge-of-seat read。 The case for Erika this time is a brutal murder of young woman who's a true-crime podcaster, the gory details on the murder at the prologue really got my heart racing, it's really gruesome and definitely not for a weak heart and I suggest to read the trigger warning first because there's really some stuff that really hard to read。 Then there's twist after twist, lots of suspects and love how the author put doubts in my head when I take a guess of who's the murderer。 As for the character, well I'm a fan of Detective Erica Foster, although sometimes I think that she's a bit reckless, in this book love to see her vulnerable side, it's make her more human and I admire her more, I can feel her loneliness, her jealousy and all her feelings。Intense page-turner mystery thriller suspense read with great heroine, definitely highly recommended。 。。。more

This is the first book I have read from this author and my first encounter with Detective Erika Foster。 I am a sucker for a good serial killer storyline。This definitely does not disappoint。 Twists and turns, nail biting suspense。 Will Erika solve this mystery before someone else has to die? Looking forward to reading more from this author and more from Erika。

Oh, I was super excited to realise that Robert Bryndza, one of my fave authors, had written another book, and an Erika Foster one, to boot! It’s dark and gruesome and keeps you on the edge of your seat most of the time。 This is one of my favorite police procedural series from the way the story is told to the amazing character development。 I love that while most of the story is told from Erika’s point of view, we also get chapters here and there from her colleagues as well as from the guilty party, which is always my favorite perspective to get because while we don’t know who it is until the end, it’s always so creepy hearing their thoughts。Expertly plotted, with plenty of misdirection and red herrings, this is sure to keep your attention glued to the book, as it did mine。 Once I started this one, I had a hard time putting it down – it’s just such an addictive, captivating story, despite how gruesome and dark it is。 I do hope that because we got this book after such a long hiatus that this means there are more Erika stories coming!Audio thoughts: It just seemed fitting that I listen to this book as I had listened to the entire series up to now。 I was thrilled to see that Jan Cramer was back to narrate – she had been the narrator for all 6 books prior and I am such a big believer in having the same narrator in a series whenever possible。 It may have been a few years since the last Erika Foster book, but picking this one up with Jan Cramer as narrator made it feel like yesterday – that’s how consistent she is with her voices and I just love it! This story really just came alive with her narration, really making it such a treat to listen to!You can see all my reviews at: https://www。alwayswithabook。com/ 。。。more

I won’t lie though, I was worried that after 4 years I may have lost some of the connection with Erika, but I had nothing to fear。 It was like no time had past。 Bryndza brings Erika’s world back to life seamlessly and the magic is still there。Erika Foster is well and truly back with this case, which has been well plotted and executed。 Bryndza always does a great job of pulling the reader into the world he creates and makes you feel part of the story。 The pace is fast, with plenty of tension and suspense that bubbles away in the background before reaching boiling point。 I really wanted to savour it and take my time, but this was never going to happen when each chapter left me wanting more!So I think you get the idea that I loved this book and it was definitely worth the 1,546 day wait! Maybe she knew too much or was getting too close to discovering the identity of the murderer。Then another disturbing twist。 The body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is discovered in the same building。The tension builds quickly, and the crime takes on a deadly twist。 In a race against time, they must find the killer before he strikes again。The author is definitely a pro at complex multi-layered, character-driven police procedurals, forensics, and engaging crime thrillersWith many twists and red herrings, the author keeps you glued to the audio/pages。 Erika is a relatable flawed character which makes her human with a balance of workaholic and crazy personal life, which we get to be a part of。 We also get to catch up with other characters from the series。A satisfying conclusion; however, I hope the author will bring Erika back in a spin-off series for appearances so we can catch up with her (personally and professionally)。 She is too good to end。The author is a master at creating suspenseful crime scenes and intense police procedurals with vivid descriptions and settings。 These are pretty gritty, grisly, and gripping。 I definitely would be closing my eyes if these scenes were on the widescreen。I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, Jan Cramer, delivered an excellent performance。 I enjoy her accent and perfect voice, as always for Erika。I have missed reading a few books in the series; however, FATAL WITNESS can be read as a standalone。 If you love intelligently written crime thrillers, this is a series you will want to read。 Also, check out the author's new Kate Marshall crime thriller series: Devil's Way January 26, 2023。 (#4 of 4)。 A special thank you to #RavenStreetPublishing and #NetGalley for an advanced audio copy to listen to, enjoy, and review。Blog Review Posted @www。JudithDCollins。com @JudithDCollins | #JDCMustReadBooksPub Date: July 7, 2022 My Rating: 4 Stars ✨✨✨✨July 2022 Must-Read Books 。。。more

Another cracking read from the excellent, and underrated, Robert Bryndza。 It has been a while since we have had a new instalment in this gripping series but the wait was worth it。 Erika Foster is a fascinating character and she is in the process of moving house here as well as trying to crack a complex case。 The plot,as always, is complex and intriguing, the characters well portrayed and the denouement most satisfying。 Brilliant!

Erika Foster has just moved into her new home, a real fixer upper。 She's out for a walk in the Blackheath neighborhood when she hears a scream and finds a new murder case。The victim, a true crime podcaster, is identified by her sister as Vicky Clarke。 Was her work the reason for the killing and, if so, where are the files and recordings? The investigation leads Erika and her team on a frustrating trek around the South London area。 Interviews are hampered or blocked and the evidence leads nowhere Erika Foster has just moved into her new home, a real fixer upper。 She's out for a walk in the Blackheath neighborhood when she hears a scream and finds a new murder case。The victim, a true crime podcaster, is identified by her sister as Vicky Clarke。 Was her work the reason for the killing and, if so, where are the files and recordings? The investigation leads Erika and her team on a frustrating trek around the South London area。 Interviews are hampered or blocked and the evidence leads nowhere。 In a puzzling twist, there's another slaying and Erika is working hard to put the pieces together and find the perpetrator。I must admit, this was a bit of a disappointment after waiting so long for this installment in a series that I had really liked。 Most of it is police procedural and the plot is a little thin with it being fairly obvious quite quickly who the villain was。 Erika is the typical genre protagonist, single and a workaholic, who manages to get herself in danger as do all the female detectives who go it alone without their backup。 We do not hear much about the rest of the team as they come and go keeping busy。 And, I wonder, what was the point of including that bit about the cat mutilation (might be a trigger for some)? I had some other moments of irritation but just glossed over them。 I will likely try this author again, but this one was formulaic without the intense suspense, thrills, and excitement that I have come to expect from this type of book。 I have read all of Bryndza's previous work。 Thank you to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for this e-book ARC to read and review。 。。。more

Fatal Witness is an excellent police procedural。 The police detective, Erika, is a tough cookie and a quick thinker。 I love that she questions everything。 She isn’t perfect but that makes her all the more realistic。 I can’t say much about the actual crime without giving things away but there were some doozy twists。 More Erika Foster will definitely be on my To Read pile!

Erika Foster is back again in another installment of her popular detective series。 This time she is tracking a killer who has violently murdered a woman in Blackheath, London, near Erika’s new home。The mystery starts strong with a disturbing prologue and continues as Erika and her team slowly follow the evidence and interview numerous suspects。 The author excels at keeping the reader guessing and developing likable, yet imperfect, characters。 Even if you’ve missed a few in this series like I hav Erika Foster is back again in another installment of her popular detective series。 This time she is tracking a killer who has violently murdered a woman in Blackheath, London, near Erika’s new home。The mystery starts strong with a disturbing prologue and continues as Erika and her team slowly follow the evidence and interview numerous suspects。 The author excels at keeping the reader guessing and developing likable, yet imperfect, characters。 Even if you’ve missed a few in this series like I have, this can easily be read as a stand alone。 。。。more

With thanks to the author, publisher Raven Street Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review。I really enjoyed this one。 It is the seventh installment in the Detective Erika Foster series, and also the first work of Robert Bryndza that I have read, but this didn’t negatively impact on my enjoyment of it in the least, as I felt the novel stood on its own very well。The writing and plot were fast-paced, the dialog between the ch With thanks to the author, publisher Raven Street Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review。I really enjoyed this one。 It is the seventh installment in the Detective Erika Foster series, and also the first work of Robert Bryndza that I have read, but this didn’t negatively impact on my enjoyment of it in the least, as I felt the novel stood on its own very well。The writing and plot were fast-paced, the dialog between the characters was fun and engaging with witty exchanges throughout, and the characters themselves were well-rounded and fleshed out。The plot had plenty of twists and turns that kept me engaged, ahead of the big reveal in the final few chapters。 The descriptions of the murders were very detailed without being too gruesome, and the attention to detail in the forensic descriptions throughout the investigation was wonderful。The audiobook narrator Jan Cramer was also excellent, and really brought the characters and the story to life。 。。。more
